November 1

What better way to kick off November than with a clear mind, fresh air, and a strong sense of purpose? This morning, with the weather absolutely ideal, I was back for my weekly pilgrimage up the iconic 1000 Steps at the Dandenong Ranges National Park.

Hitting the track for an 8 am start is always the perfect reward after a busy week. There’s something truly special about the setting—the sound of the birds, the towering trees, and the encouraging nods from fellow hikers. It’s a weekly ritual I genuinely look forward to, and this time, every single step carried extra meaning.

The Power Behind the Steps

As part of the Lap the Map challenge for Lions Assistance Dogs, every kilometre I log is about more than just fitness; it’s about funding a furry lifeline for Australians with Type 1 Diabetes.

I'm incredibly proud to announce that, thanks to the generosity of friends and supporters, I have already raised $162!

This money goes directly towards training Diabetic Alert Dogs (DADs). It truly is absolutely amazing what these dogs can do. They are trained to detect minute, life-threatening changes in their owner's blood sugar levels through scent—a superpower that acts as a vital early warning system. They provide safety and independence, and the fact that Lions provides them free of charge to those who need them is simply inspiring.

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far! Your support makes my 1000 Steps feel a little lighter and brings a life-changing dog closer to a family in need.

I'm doing Lap the Map to Transform Lives with Diabetic Alert Dogs

Living with diabetes can be tough, with constant worries about blood sugar levels. Diabetic Alert Dogs are specially trained to detect changes in their owner’s blood sugar, alerting them before it becomes dangerous. These amazing dogs not only help keep people safe but also offer comfort and companionship. My goal is to provide these life-changing Diabetic Alert Dogs free of charge to Australians living with diabetes. I believe everyone should have access to this support, regardless of their situation. Your donations make this possible by helping us train more dogs and support families.

Please donate today. Every little bit helps us provide hope and support to those living with diabetes. Together, we can make a real difference.
